If this is your first time visiting, welcome! My name is Lani and I’m delighted to meet you.
The other day it dawned on me that I never created an “About Me” page for this little ‘ole blog. I’ve thought about it a couple of times, but have never taken the time to actually put it together. I recently came across a new-to-me blog … Housekaboodle. Sue is the proprietress of this fine establishment and she hosts a weekly link-up party called “Meet the Neighbors.” I thought it would be fun to join in and use her ice-breaker questions to kick off my very own About Me page.
A few personal tidbits …
Next month my husband and I will be celebrating 33 blessed years of marriage.
We have five children, three boys and two girls, a son-in-law, and one grandson.
We were both born and raised in California, the Bay Area to be exact.
We moved to central California soon after we got married and lived there until three years ago when we moved to Central Virginia.
My hobbies are quilting, sewing and needle arts.
I love the variety of all the seasons, but Fall is my favorite.
My dream DIY project would be an old farmhouse that I could completely renovate.

Housekaboodle’s questions …
1. Morning person or night owl?
Actually … a little bit of both! I’m the most productive in the morning, but love to stay up late crocheting or hand-quilting while watching a good movie.
2. The doorbell rings and it’s your neighbor. Do you invite them in or pretend you’re not home?
Always, always, always invite them in! I love to have friends stop by for a chat!
3. When out of sugar do you visit a neighbor or head to the market?
Definitely send one of the kids over to the neighbors. Then next time I go to the market I’ll send back over a 5 pound bag of sugar, since chances are I’ll need it again someday.
4. In home design, what is your go to color combination?
That’s easy! I always try to stick with neutrals and light to medium earth tones. Wall colors are off-white or a light gray, trim is ALWAYS white. That way I can change my color palettes seasonally without worrying if it “goes with” the foundations. You can read more about the interior colors we’re using in our home here.
5. Where do you live now and given the choice where would your dream home be?
We’ve lived in Central Virginia for the last three years and I absolutely love it. I lived in northern and central California since birth. My dream home would still be here in Central Virginia, set in the country, up on a hill, overlooking green pastures with clear views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
6. What is your favorite social media and why?
Google + and Pinterest.
Google + because it gives me the opportunity to interact in various ways with those in my circles, build relationships and be part of communities.
Pinterest because it’s just plain FUN. I get to build pinboards of anything and everything I absolutely love and share it with the world. Plus I get to meet others that have the same interests as I do. Perfect combination!
7. What inspired you to start your blog?
My kitchen! The day we walked into this house and I saw the kitchen, the first words to come out of my mouth were, “This is a blogger’s kitchen!” As we continued our tour and I saw how much potential for decorating this house had, I knew that if we did get the house, at some point, I’d probably start blogging.
8. Do your family and friends follow your blog?
My sister-in-law and one good friend are followers. Most of my friends don’t even know what a blog is!
I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know a few facts about me. I’d love to meet you too!
The front door is open … won’t you come in and visit for a few minutes.
I’d love to hear where you live now and where your dream home would be!
