February 14.
Valentine’s Day.
A day set aside to celebrate love and affection.
I love to decorate for Valentine’s day, almost as much as I do for Christmas. Adding touches of pink and red just seem to brighten everything up in the middle of winter.
This year I made this adorable pom-pom garland. I love adding yarn and fabric to my decor … it adds a special softness to everything.
Do you have any special trinkets handed down from days gone by? These sweethearts were part of my mother-in-law’s collection. She just loved the simplicity of them.
It never hurts to add other colors to the mix. This adorable wreath was made by my daughter. It was easy as can be … cut rectangular strips of fabric, fold each one over the end of a pencil, then gently push into a round styrofoam wreath.
Of course, my favorite decor item is my “Love Is In the Air” wall quilt. It was the first Valentine quilt project I made after we moved into our new home. Fond memories!
When we were children, we all loved to go to school on Valentine’s day. Whether we had special bags taped to the back of our chairs, or cute mail boxes on our desks, we were filled with glee when one of our classmates would drop a card or treat into our container. Of course I was always the one that snuck peeks when I probably shouldn’t have throughout the day. And, yes, like most of us, I longed to see if the cute boy across the room signed his card, “Love, Charlie.”
In this same spirit, I have a special treat for you! These two printables are available as a free download for you to use in your personal decor or as gifts. All I ask is that you please do not reproduce/redistribute them electronically (pinning is okay).
