… three simple things that we all want to capture a moment of each and every day.
Yet sometimes, most times if we’re honest, we’re so busy doing everything else that we completely miss those moments.
I’m not one to make new year resolutions because I know that by January 10th they’ll be long forgotten, but I do take the last couple of weeks of the year to spend time looking at the past year and reflect on the highlights and lowlights. I go through my digital picture folders and Instagram to see what I captured. Guess what … I missed a lot. Some of the things that really stand out in my memory I never captured in a picture to share with my family and friends.
My “one word” for 2015 is INTENTIONAL.
I want to live life intentionally … on purpose … taking time enjoy my family, laugh often, and love hard.
And I want to capture as many of those moments as I can to remember them.
A couple of years ago my teenage son signed up for Instagram. One day in the car he was chatting with a friend. They were taking random pictures of whatever we were driving by, posting them on Instagram, and then watching and comparing the number of “likes” they got. I was totally confused. Who on earth were these people that were “liking” these pictures? And why did they even care? I just didn’t get it. But like all good moms, if my teenager was on there, I needed to be too. And before we arrived at our destination, I had officially created my own Instagram account and said teenagers had taught me everything I needed to know, all in about 30 seconds flat.
From that point on I dabbled a little bit with Instagram, but never really connected with it, that is until I started blogging. I can honestly say that now Instagram is my favorite social media network of all. I love connecting with people, yes, strangers, from ALL OVER THE WORLD, that share in my passions of home decorating, DIY, and quilting. It is so much fun to see what others are doing!
I’ve also found that I love the ability to capture moments in time when I’m in the middle of a project, visiting friends, worshipping at church, playing with family, even just doing some of the mundane things in life like cleaning the kitchen after a holiday celebration.
Capturing Life, Laughter & Love …
I’d like to personally invite you to join me this year as I “Capture Life, Laughter & Love” in a year-long Instagram challenge.
The focus of this challenge is to capture moments of life, laughter, and love, but it’s not just about capturing the moments that matter to you, it also focuses on growing a community of people who are learning to capture the important things TODAY as a memory for TOMORROW. Our hashtag says it all #capturinglifelaughterlove – isn’t that what it’s all about?
How the challenge works …
Twenty bloggers have come together for the purpose of helping our readers use a tool they already use, their phones, in order to slow down, pause for a moment in time and capture the things that will one day be cherished memories for ourselves and our children using the popular Instagram network.
To participate, you will need two things …
- an Instagram account (download the Instagram app from your phone)
- a FREE subscription to receive the monthly challenges – prompts for your daily photos
Sign up below to receive the monthly prompts for the 2015 challenge and join a community of people who are dedicated to capturing memories by following #capturinglifelaughterlove!
Your first challenge will be included in your welcome email. Then at the end of each month, you will get an email from me with the next months challenge prompts. Be sure to save me in your address book (firstname.lastname@example.org) to guarantee that these emails don’t end up in your other folders that you don’t look at often.
Once you’ve received your email, follow along the daily prompts as much as you can or desire and ALWAYS use #capturingifelaughterlove when posting, so our growing community can enjoy one another and learn how others are using Instagram for inspiration. Please note – If you prefer to keep your captured memories to yourself and those who follow you – that is fine, too. Our goal is to help you in capturing memories for years to come. If that is your desire, just leave off the hashtag and start clicking through the daily prompts that are delivered with each monthly challenge.
Throughout the year, you’ll also receive occasional emails introducing you to my blogging friends that are co-hosting this inspiring journey with me.
Speaking of inspiration …
Our 20 bloggers have come together to offer each of our subscribers a FREE ebook… 20 Tips for Improving Your Instagram Photos. Once it is completed, you’ll receive an email with the download link. Look for it some time in February.
Meet the Hostesses …
