It’s been so fun to have a fireplace mantel to decorate this year. Last year we weren’t moved in until mid-March and the year before everything seasonal was packed up in preparation for our move. I had so much more that I had planned to decorate around the house, but, alas, a few other projects took precedence. I’ll have to start a little earlier next year!
Our fireplace is the focal point of our great room. It’s so fun to have it all decorated for the holiday. The quilted wall hanging, which I featured in this post, was my big Valentine project this year. It will be a much loved heirloom for years to come.
I absolutely adore this vintage collectible of the little boy and girl “almost” kissing. I think it belonged to my mother-in-law … somehow it ended up at my home. No complaints! Aren’t they adorable? Not quite sure when it happened, but it seems I’ve started collecting birds … white birds. The few I have in my collection thus far have come from Joann and Michael’s. Definitely not “treasures,” but cute as can be none-the-less.
The “Love” blocks were made from the tutorial from Craftaholics Anonymous. Super Easy! The picture was a download from The TomKat Studio. Adorable basket came from Kohl’s (last year.)
The berry heart wreath and garland came from Joann’s. For the garland, I cut three Valentine necklaces and rewired them together.
The wreath was made by my daughter. Her youth group at church got together and had a “Pinterest Night.” Love the fabrics she picked!
A little bit of Valentine love also popped up in the kitchen with these Love Bird salt & pepper shakers from Cracker Barrel, the adorable heart shaped bowls are from Kohl’s.
Even “Miss Jenny” got some pink love! And yes, the kids have been instructed that these are “pretty towels” … Hands Off!
As I was preparing this post I looked up and it was snowing! Heaven! I saw my poor Valentine banner all wind-blown and snow-covered, so I straightened her out and dusted her off.
I hope that my little corner of Valentine Love has brought you much happiness today.
So, do you decorate for the Valentine holiday?
xoxo
