Quick & Easy Bunting …

Quick & Easy Bunting ...

We had a few families over this Sunday for a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta.  I wanted to do something fun and colorful on the porches, and since buntings are all the rage, I wanted to see if I could whip up something fairly quickly. My three goals were: 1.  Colorful 2.  Inexpensive 3.  Quick to make One thing I have more than enough of is fabric … lots and lots and lots and lots of fabric,  so the “colorful” and {Read More}

Happy Friday! Have you missed me? I know … I know … It’s been a little too quiet around here this week. Good morning and Happy Friday! It’s time for round two of our Friendly Friday series. First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with all those in the greater Boston area, as well as in West, Texas. ______________________________________________ We have two features for you this week. Let’s get started! I’d like to introduce you to Deborah … the “chef extraordinaire” at Delicious Happens. Early Spring in the Garden …

In the Garden | Simply Fresh Vintage

One of the things we had on our house-hunting checklist was acreage … no, not like in the multiples of, but at the very minimum one.  Two or three would be fine. Five? Way too much if it was all landscaped.  We wanted enough space to grow stuff … a few vegetables, maybe some berries, grapes might be fun, definitely some fruit trees. Our property is a little over an acre with about 0.85 of it actually usable.  We have {Read More}

Vintage Tablecloth Love …

Vintage Tablecloth Love

A couple of years ago, right before we left California to move to Virginia, I went to visit my sister-in-law.  One of the passions that we share is quilting.  As much as she loves to make quilts, for the last several years, she has become an incredibly talented long-arm quilter.  Her quilting has been featured in countless quilting magazines and even a few books.  On this visit, she shared with me a few quilts that she was working on for {Read More}

Friendly Friday #1 …

Friendly Friday @ Simply Fresh Vintage

A couple of days ago our daughter received a mailer from a college inviting her to their “Friendly Friday.” I’m sure all colleges have some form of “come-and-get-to-know-us” event that they hold on a regular basis. So yesterday I got to thinking about how I could incorporate a “Friendly Friday” here at Simply Fresh Vintage. Ever since I started SFV, I have come across some fantastic blogs … some have been around for quite awhile, others fairly new. So I {Read More}

Solving the Mystery …

Connecting Threads Mystery Quilt

Back in early February, Connecting Threads announced a Mystery Quilt on their Quilt With Us Community Forum. I took a peek and thought it looked doable, so I signed up.  I was right!  It was very easy and very manageable … three parts, three weeks. The most difficult part, as is usually the case, was picking the fabric.  Only four were needed … two medium/dark, one light tone-on-tone, and one light or dark were the recommendations. I chose fabrics from {Read More}

Spring? … Winter? … Hmmmm …

March Snow

According to the calendar, the date is March 25 … not March 2, not March 5, March 25 … seven days before the first of April … six days before Easter. March. 25. When I should be seeing this … and this … and when I should be doing this … instead I’m enjoying this … Enjoying? Really? Yes.  Enjoying … loving, actually! This was one of the reasons I was so excited to move here. You see, in Central {Read More}

Are you ready for the final installment in our Sunnyside Manor introduction?  Personally I think I’ve saved the best for last.  I hope you’ll agree.
